Beef Romanoff

“Some people like to paint pictures, or do gardening, or build a boat in the basement. Other people get a tremendous pleasure out of the kitchen, because cooking is just as creative and imaginative an activity as drawing, or wood carving, or music.” – Julia Childs

One of the things that I like about cooking is that when I need a change I can always try a new recipe.  I was having a craving for Beef Stroganoff and remembered a dish that my mother used to make. The combination of tomato meat sauce, and sour cream over noodles was a childhood favorite meal of mine.  After google searching the ingredients I was lead to the Cooks.com recipe for Beef Romanoff.

The recipe was almost as easy to make as pasta with tomato sauce. The total time that it takes to prepare makes it feasible for me to add it to my weekly meal rotation.   The addition of sour cream and cream cheese, made the flavor a kin to lasagna.  I found the taste to be good but not enough to be labeled “addicting”.  However, the recipe shows promise and I believe with ingredient quantity adjustments, it could be rated as addicting.

Cinnamon raisin cookies

Today I will be making cinnamon raisin cookies as a thank you gift for a friend.  The recipe is from Cooks.com.   I was originally going to make oatmeal raisin cookies but the oats that I have are unusable.  I can’t wait to see how these cookies will taste.

The recipe was easy to follow and the cookies came out nice and soft.  Between batches I put the cookie dough in the fridge.  I believe that it helped the cookies shape better in the oven.

The cookie are soft and would be excellent with an afternoon cup of tea.  Although I like taste of these cookies, I would never trade a chocolate chip cookie for one.

Welcome to the place where I blog about recipes I collect

Welcome

Welcome to the new home where I store potentially and confirmed delicious baking and cooking recipes.

I really enjoy cooking and baking. When I was young, the domestic queen in my life made so many things: clothes, candies, garden vegetables, meals and baked goods from scratch. Her example solidified in my mind that any taste that I am interested in creating I can make with research, the right ingredients and determination.

I needed a new home for recipes that I post to social networks. I was having to look through many posts in order to find recipes to be added to my weekly meal menu. So here it is. I hope that you enjoy the recipes and my thoughts on the recipes.

Sincerely,

Alison
